I was reminded recently that it has been a while since I have written in my Chronicles, so I figured I'd give you a quick update on what's been going on since my last entry. I think the biggest thing is that I'm 2 now! Almost 2 and a half. Can you believe it? Time flies, I know.
It's summertime and I love swimming in our pool. MommaBear says she is so proud of her "grandpuppy" because I cans swim and play by myself, even though I am only 2. She gets to float around on a raft while I drop my pool toy in the water and pick it up again. And again. And again. And when she tosses it in the water for me, I get to swim over to it. I'm really getting good at swimming without splashing!
Uncle Awex is home and he plays with me a lot. He went away for a while to some place MommaBear called Austria and while he was there, he met a doggie named Blue. Blue is a sheep dog who was getting ready to go up the mountain for his first summer guarding the sheep. Sounds like work to me. I'd rather stay home on the couch - I mean - stay home guarding the house. I'm glad Uncle Awex got to have a little puppy-love while he was away. Just as long as he didn't forget ME.
My daddy works way too much, but every night he spends time with me playing ball in the living room and snuggling on the couch. I just love that guy.
So, that's it for now. Honest. So, if you're a person, especially one with a puppy, you don't need to read any further. Really. There's nothing to see here. You can all go home now and go about your business.
OK, pups... have all of your people left the room?Great. Now, if you're a puppy, like me, you need to keep reading! Wait until you hear this one! I got my people to fee me dinner 3 times the other day. Yup. 3 times. Plus, I had breakfast, too. I felt like a Hobbit with all the extra meals. It's all in the "look". You have to sit by your food dish and look sad and hungry. If that doesn't work, you go to the source. My food is kept in the closet in the hall so I go there and poke at it with my nose. Eventually, they get the message. The trick, though, is this.... Only one of your people can be home for this to work. MommaBear always feeds me breakfast. But, Uncle Awex wasn't sure the other day because I gave him the puppy-eyes at the food dish around 2:30 that day and he gave me 1 cup (I get 2 cups) - just in case MommaBear had not fed me. Then, around 5pm, he gave me my usual dinner. Then, he left and Daddy came home and since no one else was home, he thought no one had fed me, so after I gave him the puppy-eyes, he gave me my usual 2 cups for dinner. Then, since it was Friday night, he left to go visit a friend. When Momma came home later... you guessed it. More puppy-eyes, and another cup of food.
So, remember pups, don't underestimate the well-timed puppy-eyes look. It could just get you some extra sympathy and, if you're lucky, 2nd (and 3rd) dinners.

Shhhh.... MommaBear is sleeping....
7:59am. So this is what I found this morning when I went to wake up the MommaBear! I don't know what it means. Doesn't MommaBear know I can't read?? But, Daddy gave me a yummy little snack this morning and let me go out for a little walk-a-bout while it was still DARK out! I love fresh air. And snacks! When he left for the place they call "work" I took a little nap - I love to take naps after snack time - and the next thing I knew - it was sunny out and time to wake the MommaBear! But her door was SHUT and there was this paper thing on it. So I had to "boop" the door (knock by bumping it with my nose) to tell her about it. MommaBear came out to see what I was doing. Yay! MommaBear is up!!! I love MommaBear! And it's breakfast time!! I love breakfast time! And she said I was a very good dog for waiting until 7:59 to wake her up.

Summertime and the living is...
HOT!
Much too hot!
Thank goodness MommaBear had the sense to turn on the cool air box in the wall. I guess the panting and the "woe is me - I'm sooo hot" act worked! And now there's one in her bedroom too, so I spent most of the night in there with her! Maybe my daddy will put his cool air box in our bedroom, too? I sure hope so.
And, MommaBear promised to let me play in the water this afternoon. Well, she said the "P. O. O. L." but I'm no dummy. I know that spells "water"!
This is me last summer when I was just a pup. I didn't like the water very much then.
But, now, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I love to sit on the step with my front feet in the water and drop my big purple ball into the water. Sometimes it floats back to me and I can get it. But sometimes it floats away, and I have to swim out and bring it back. MommaBear says she likes that I can entertain myself while she cleans the pool or floats on the big floaty thing. She says I'm a big dog now! :)
Anyway, I just wish she would finish up her work so we can go out and swim!!
Last one in is a rotten egg!

Spring Break!
Ahh, Spring Break! The weather has been great this week and Uncle Alex has been home from that place they call College. He even went outside with me and ran wind sprints. I always run with a big ball in my mouth and offered him the one with the handle, but he declined. He's gotten faster now that he is older, but I can still beat him. He said it's not fair because I have 4 legs. So, I let him win this time, and we had lots of fun.
I got to sleep with him on the big bed downstairs and snuggled with him every morning. Unfortunately, he has to go back to the place they call College early, so this morning we snuggled later than normal.
The last time Uncle Alex was home I tired sitting on his lap to get him to stay, but it didn't work. So, this time I thought I would just lay right on top of him. Sadly, this was also a "fail", and he is leaving this afternoon. :( I will miss you, Uncle Alex. Study and get smart and then come back home!!

The latest from me, Copper!
So MommaBear reminded me last night that it has been a while since I've written on my blog. Her friend, Cindy, commented that she loved reading my stories. But, hey, what's not to love? So here's a shout out to Cindy K.! Who loves ya, baby!
I went to Clicker-Trick school this winter. I learned how to do some tricks, but there were so many of them! I'm still a little confused. But, MommaBear and Daddy are teaching me to sit with a cookie on my nose. Pretty silly if you ask me, but I'm trying. It's not easy since I love, love, love cookies so much! But the proof is in the picture!
So, guess what?! As of February 6th, I'm 1 year old already! The Momma and my Daddy brought me great birthday presents. And real doggy cookies with frosting and everything! It was a really fun day. And right after that it was Valentine's Day. MommaBear missed Valley-Girl, her old pup, a little bit since she said it was her birthday, but I helped her get over being sad by letting her play with me. I'm pretty handy that way. The Momma brought me a big heart-shaped cookie! It was really yummy. It would have been a lot better though if that big floating frog didn't get in the house. I barked and barked at it and tried to warn everyone about it but they just laughed at me. Can you believe that? I even tried to sneak up on it, but it was soooo big - and it had these huge eyes. MommaBear called it a Frog Prince balloon. I finally convinced them to put it in Uncle Alex's room. Gee. I'll have to remember to warn him about it next time he comes home from that place they call college.
Phew, this has been long. I really shouldn't wait so long between entries. Problem is that I could really use a mani/pedi. It's hard typing with these crazy long nails! But Daddy said he's not paying another $84 just to get my nails cut. (MommaBear said she doesn't even pay that much when she gets hers done, which isn't very often.) Can I help it if I like the full treatment? And they are so nice to me at the doctor's office - they even give me a little nap while they do it so I don't feel a thing. I just dream about chasing the kitties, and playing with the other puppies that they have there. The Momma said I would be going in soon to have them done. And, she said something about getting some other kind of nip and tuck work done at the same time. She said something about there being balls involved so I'm really excited that they are going to be playing with me this time! I love playing with balls! It's one of my favorite ways to pass the time! I have 2 big balls that I play with outdoors that MommaBear won't let me bring in because she said I will break something with them.
Well, all this typing is making me tired. I think it's time for a nap.

Merry Christmas!
I love(d) my gingerbread man and the cookies from The Momma! Yum, yum, yum!
I'm not so sure about my "gift" from MommaBear. Little white flags all around my yard that make a funny noise when you get too close to them. How are we going to play ball now? How am I going to sneak over to Sparky's yard if I can't go near the buzzing flags? And, most importantly, where am I supposed to pee if I can't get to the bushes?? huh?? What were you thinking, MommaBear? She says it's for my own safety, but they are stressing me out! But, I guess she knows best...
I think I need a cookie.

Dear Santa
Dear Santa,
I have been a good boy all year! Well, not all year, because I was only born in February, but since then, I think I have been pretty darn good... well, pretty darn good for a puppy anyway.
This Christmas I would like a new string toy. Again.
And, maybe some new treats.
MommaBear said we are not having a Christmas tree this year. Something about being worried the puppy might pee on it. Are you bringing us a new puppy? Certainly, she doesn't mean ME??!! Anyway, she said you would know where to leave our presents.
I can't wait for Christmas!!
Love,
